About us

Our story

My name is Gyula Erdélyi, and I have been involved in agriculture from a young age. Our family business is based in Cegléd, in the heart of Hungary. With 800 hectares of cultivated farmland and 400 Holstein-Friesian dairy cattle at our farm, Kugla Major, we have built a stable and successful enterprise.

The success of our agricultural operations inspired me to seek new challenges.

In 1995, I developed an interest in equestrian sports. Having no prior experience, I needed an expert to guide me. That’s when I met Viktor Sári, a skilled horse breeder and active equestrian coach. Our initial goal was to enter the world of showjumping. To make this happen, we acquired quality horses and talented riders.

We went on to establish the Ceglédi Equestrian Club and recruited promising young riders such as Gábor Fábiáncsics, András Zajzon, and László Karádi. Year after year, their results improved. Notably, Gábor Fábiáncsics represented Hungary at the Young Riders European Championship riding Meran and later placed second in the World Cup in Budapest.

First steps into equestrian sports
From pigeon racing to horse breeding

At the time, horse breeding didn’t appeal to me — it seemed too slow-paced, with long wait times before seeing results. Instead, I turned to racing homing pigeons, where the shorter generational cycle offered quicker feedback. In pigeon racing, breeding and performance are inseparable, and my domestic and international successes in the sport eventually sparked a new idea.

With the land, high-quality pastures, stables, and infrastructure already in place, I realized I had everything needed to venture into horse breeding. And so, I decided to take on this new challenge.

Our Breeding Philosophy

What does this mean?

A frozen embryo is a 7–10-day-old viable embryo that’s preserved for long-term storage and safe transport. These embryos are created under strict clinical conditions through a process called OPU (Ovum Pick-Up), where eggs are collected from high-quality donor mares. The best oocytes are selected and fertilized with semen from pre-chosen stallions using ICSI (IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection).

After incubation, viable embryos are frozen and can be shipped and implanted worldwide. Thanks to advanced technology, the gender of the embryo can also be determined during this process.

Our breeding program is driven by the goal of combining cutting-edge technology with world-class genetics. We use the most advanced reproductive method available today — ICSI (IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection) — to produce embryos from top showjumping mares with proven pedigrees and successful offspring.

These mares are carefully paired with the best stallions in the world, both living and deceased. Unlike traditional breeding methods that rely on fresh or frozen semen for insemination, ICSI allows us to create and freeze embryos for future implantation, offering greater precision and flexibility.

Raising and Training the Next Generation

We have also resumed training and competition with our homebred foals. As they develop and demonstrate their potential, we carefully prepare them for future success in sport. Once ready, they are matched with new homes where they can thrive and compete at the highest levels of international showjumping.

Events of the recent past

2021

Ten foals were born from some of the world’s leading sires, including Emerald van’t Ruytershof, I’m Special de Muze, Mylord Carthago, Conthargos, and Chacoon Blue.

2022

Our first ICSI foals arrived with great success, both in quality and sales. We also celebrated the birth of our first Chacco-Blue offspring.

2019

We purchased several foals and broodmares with exceptional pedigrees in partnership with Gábor Fábiáncsics.

Nowadays...

We breed with 10–12 top-quality donor mares, using some of the best stallions worldwide. We also raise a selection of the foals ourselves, focusing on developing future showjumping talents.
